Our ethos at SAMURI MOTOR COMPANY is to achieve the conversion of a standard road car that evolves into a Road Sports, Modified Road/Track car up to Super-Modified Road/Track car ensuring always that the end result is a balanced car that goes faster, stops well and handles in the twisty bits.

ENGINES
We have various stages of tuning available for all Nissan engine series – e.g. L Series, RB Series, VQ Series and VR Series engines of the Nissan performance series cars. Depending on the horsepower gain required this will range from improvements to engine breathing, inlet air filtration, charge intercoolers, exhaust manifolds and turbo/waste-gate sizing, gas flowed cylinder heads, re-profiled camshafts, forced induction systems e.g. superchargers and turbochargers, cylinder re-bores, new or re-worked lightened and balanced flywheel, con-rods, pistons, and crankshafts, dry sump lubrication, uprated oil pump and oil cooler, improved carburetors or direct throttle bodies or other improved fuel injection systems, high capacity lightweight radiators with electric cooling fans. Having retrofitted a multi branch exhaust manifold, which can be increased in bore size, the follow-on activity is to look at the complete exhaust system and whether this is a single straight through system or branches into a twin outlet system with the necessary y-piece and removal of cat pipes if required. Nissan engines are very reliable power units, so long as you stay within the maximum permissible BHP bands for the various engine series, anything is possible.
We can also retrofit engine types from later models into the classic Z series cars to give significant increase in pure power. It is also possible to retrofit other power units from other manufacturers. However, we believe there are sufficient options from within the Nissan performance series of cars and their OEM engine specifications to provide the power output that you require without resorting to muscle car engines. However, if the roar of a V8 engine is absolutely a must for you, we will of course help you to do it right.

BRAKES
Any increase in engine power goes hand in hand with the need for improved stopping power. Therefore the brakes should be considered at the same time as any engine upgrade. SAMURI MOTOR COMPANY can provide a range of solutions from a simple change in brake pad materials to increased size brake discs that are either solid, grooved or vented or a combination of both. Bigger discs usually goes hand in hand with high efficiency multi-pot brake calipers and even individual handbrake calipers.
The ultimate solution is carbon-ceramic discs with revised calipers and brake pad material, but this is very much at the higher end of the cost spectrum, although there is also an exponential increase in longevity. High performance braking systems also rely on improved racing spec brake fluid to avoid any brake fading when pushed hard. Track cars also benefit from a brake balance bar to get the balance right between the front and rear braking circuits. Older cars will also benefit from renewed corrosion resistant brake lines and for track cars re-routing the brake lines through the interior of the body shell and fitting armoured, Goodridge flexible hoses to connect the brake lines to the suspension struts and brake calipers.

SUSPENSION & HANDLING
Now that you have more engine power and stopping power the next area for attention is the suspension and handling department. Suspension modifications can range from simple spring and damper change-outs to adjustable roller top mounts, adjustable coil-over conversions up to fully automated Magneto-Rheological technology where the stiffness settings of the dampers are controlled electronically from the cockpit of the car, but this is very much at the higher end of the cost spectrum. Having dealt with the dampers the next areas to look at are the components of the suspension system, which can often be re-bushed with harder polymer bushes for fast road and track usage.
Wishbones, control arms and other heavy OEM suspension components can be replaced with lighter/stronger components machined from solid aluminium billets, incorporating adjustable rose jointed attachments, which facilitate castor and camber angle adjustment more easily. Another key area for improvement are the anti-roll bars, which can also be modified with harder polymer bushes, be increased in diameter and re-designed to use lighter materials and provide greater adjustment and tuning options.
All of these suspension modifications will improve the handling of the car and reduce any body roll as well as stiffen up the chassis. This can also be improved with the fitment of strut braces for linking the strut damper body mounting points for the front and rear suspension components. For track cars it is vital to achieve a balance and a key element of this is to achieve as near possible corner weights with minimum variation. DRIVETRAIN
It is all too easy to overlook this key area of performance improvements for your car. When it comes to increasing power and with substantial increases in power, this will transfer excessive loads to the gearbox, prop shaft, differential and sliding spline drive shafts as well as the actual wheel bearings through increased cornering loads. All of this should therefore be considered when optimizing the performance of your car and the final modification specification.
SAMURI MOTOR COMPANY can supply upgraded or replacement components with improved reliability and performance ratings as well as overhaul original OEM drivetrain components. A common improvement is to fit a close ratio gearbox or a revised final drive ratio and limited slip differential, which may require a separate differential oil cooler for heavy competition or track usage, A high performance multi-plate clutch and uprated release bearing will almost certainly be required for heavy competition or track usage as well as uprated clutch master cylinder, reservoir and slave cylinder. This will require the use of higher performance rated brake and clutch fluid to maintain higher performance of the components.

STEERING
Apart from the obvious modification of replacing the OEM Steering wheel and mounting boss, it is also necessary to consider all components of the steering system from the steering wheel to the attachment points on the wheel hub and damper assemblies. Electric power assisted systems are now available, which can be retrofitted to your car.
Track and competition cars also benefit from changing out the steering rack to a quicker ratio rack. Any rubberized components in the steering system can also be changed out for polymer material, which is harder, more durable and gives improved stiffness in the system. Attachment points can also benefit from adjustable rose-jointed connections for competition and track usage. However, track cars that are also driven on the road will require a fine balance between overall stiffness and drive-ability on the road.

WHEELS & TYRES
Road and racing wheels can be increased or decreased in diameter from standard OEM specification and the wheel width can also be varied to put more rubber down on the track. However, a key area to take notice of is to try and maintain the overall rolling radius as near as possible to the OEM configuration to avoid compromising accurate odometer readings, which can be achieved by varying the profile dimension of the tyres and the wheel rim diameter. For track and competition use another trick is to use high purity Nitrogen for tyre inflation, which is less susceptible to ambient temperature fluctuations and the resulting pressure fluctuations this causes.

BODYWORK
Improvements to the bodywork of your car can lead to significant performance gains. Fitting front and rear spoilers can lead to improved down force and grip, allowing higher cornering speeds to be achieved. Improved airflow over the body can lead to a lower coefficient of drag and result in a higher top speed for less power consumption. Modified front and rear bumpers and bodywork incorporating spoilers, under trays, diffusers and extended wheel arches will all help to improve the aesthetics and the performance of your car. Samuri can provide various body kits as well as re-painting to a very high standard using modern re-finishing and paint protection systems.
Another key modern concept that can also be deployed is vehicle wrapping, where a car’s original OEM colour can be covered with a high tech film or clear film can be utilized to provide improved bodywork protection in vulnerable areas. A key area of vehicle performance improvement is improving the power to weight ratio of your car, which can easily be achieved by replacing, doors, bonnet, tailgate etc. with carbon fibre, GRP or fibreglass replacements. ELECTRONICS & ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
Many changes to the systems listed above will also require modifications to the OEM wiring loom and electrical systems. SAMURI MOTOR COMPANY know that many owners like to personalize the interiors of their cars and this can include seat changes, replacement door cards and rubber seals, adjustable electric mirrors, electric windows, carpets and over-mats, Safety roll cages –either half cages or full cages for track and serious competition usage along with the necessary safety equipment such as multipoint harnesses and fire extinguishers as well as FIA approved competition seats. It is also possible to retrofit seats form a later model into an older model, especially where electrically adjustable sports seats are desirable.
It is also possible to introduce lightweight trim materials like carbon fibre to improve aesthetics and reduce all-up weight. For dedicated track cars and competition cars it is possible to replace heavy glass windows with lightweight perspex versions and reduce all-up weight to improve the car’s power to weight ratio.
